Ray Black Jr. Secures Top-20 Points Standing in Debut NASCAR XFINITY Series Season

NASCAR Driver Finishes 28th in Ford EcoBoost 300
HOMESTEAD, Fla.  (November 20, 2016) – NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) driver Ray Black Jr. earned a Top-20 finish in the 2016 points standings in his rookie season after finishing 28th in the Ford EcoBoost 300 Saturday night.

The driver of the No. 07 ScubaLife.com Chevrolet racked up an impressive two Top-15, nine Top-20 and 19 Top-25 finishes during his 2016 campaign.

“I had a great time taking my racing career up a level and competing in the XFINITY Series this year,” stated Black. “It was a lot of fun to take this step with SS Green Light, and I had a lot of fun learning along the way with them. I really can’t thank them enough for all that they have done for me this season.”

Black’s final race in the 2016 season came with its challenges, as the car lacked grip and constantly swung from being too loose to too tight, but the 25-year-old Flagler Beach, Fla. local and his team kept pushing throughout the weekend.

Black competed around the 27th place position after starting 30th for the majority of the Ford EcoBoost 300. With just 10 laps to go, Black ran into some fluid on the track and spun out, forcing him to come to pit road for four new tires before the final restart of the night. Black restarted 30th and was able to climb up to 28th before the checkered flag waved for the final time on the 2016 season.

“That was a tough race,” stated Black. “The grip just wasn’t there for most of the weekend and we kept swinging from being too tight to too loose. But we kept after it and didn’t give up, just like we had been doing all season, and were able to come home with a 28th place finish!”
