Ray Black Jr. Ready For Return to Kansas Speedway

NASCAR Driver Looking Forward to Upcoming Kansas City Visit

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla.  (October 12, 2016) – NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) driver Ray Black Jr. and his SS Green Light Racing team will be heading back to Kansas Speedway this weekend, as the series looks to wrap up its 16 straight race stretch. The driver of the No. 07 ScubaLife.com Chevrolet Camaro is looking forward to returning the 1.5-mile track, as he has only raced there once before in his NASCAR national touring series career.

Black finished 21st at Kansas Speedway during his 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season, as a broken oil line pump belt broke on the No. 07 during last year’s race. He looks forward to returning to the track for a little bit of redemption, as well as for a chance to enjoy Kansas City’s atmosphere as well.

“I enjoyed my time in Kansas City last year,” explained Black. “The race didn’t go how we pictured it to go, but I had a great time getting to explore the city and eat some Kansas City BBQ. I love brisket and they have some good places around there that serve it.”

As Black travels with the NXS almost every weekend, getting to try out different types of food in different cities and at the tracks is something the 25-year-old driver enjoys throughout the season.

“It’s fun getting to try different places almost every weekend,” stated Black. “Las Vegas, Miami and Dallas all have so many great options every time we’re out there. The tracks have some fun options too. Watkins Glen had a fun fair-type setup with all the usual carnival food options like funnel cakes, corn dogs and such. It’s cool to see how each track makes it their own.”

After Black’s upcoming weekend at Kansas Speedway, he will have two off-weeks before the remaining three races of the 2016 season. Coming off a stretch of 16 races, the Flagler Beach, Fla. local is looking forward to the time off.

“It’ll be nice to have a little bit of a break soon,” said Black. “I’m looking forward to going home and finishing cleaning up from Hurricane Matthew. Luckily my house wasn’t hit too hard, but Flagler Beach did get some damage so I’m going there to help clean up what I can while I’m home for a while. It’ll be nice too just to spend some time with my friends and family back home. I think my friends and I are even going to go up to Boston for Halloween weekend, so that’ll be a lot of fun!”

Fans can tune into Black’s weekend competing in the Kansas Lottery 300 on Saturday, October 15 at 3:00 p.m. ET. Live coverage will be provided by NBC and MRN Radio.
